Are your freshly grown fruits and veggies overflowing your kitchen? If so, you may be interested in canning some of your crop. Of course, you might think that means investing in the necessary equipment, which could be very expensive. But what if there was a more cost effective alternative? Beginning this July, there will be!
The Community Canning Kitchen (CCK) is operated by Wildwood Church at 100 Ox Bottom Rd, at the intersection of Meridian Rd. As of July 23rd , CCK will officially open its facilities as a service to the community at no cost (folks will need to provide their own jars). The Kitchen has already led several introductory classes on canning for many gardeners and prospective canners. The Kitchen plans to offer similar classes and events in the future, designed to educate people and provide an opportunity to meet other new and experienced canners in our area.
To learn more about CCK, including how to sign up to use the facilities and receive a copy of the Kitchen guidelines, call (850) 894-1400 ext. 286, or email [email protected].
