Our Elders

Our elders have a dual role in the church – shepherding the people and oversight of the body (Acts 20:28-31). As defined in the Book of Church Order, “As he has the oversight of the flock of Christ, he is termed bishop or pastor. As it is his duty to be grave and prudent, an example to the flock, and to govern well in the house and Kingdom of Christ, he is termed presbyter or elder”.

TEACHING ELDERS

Typically called Pastors or Ministers, these men are called to feed the flock by reading, expounding and preaching the Word of God and to administer the Sacraments.

RULING ELDERS

These are laymen who have been called and are ordained to the administration of the church. The Ruling Elders are men called and equipped by God to join the Teaching Elder and other active Ruling Elders (the Session) in the spiritual oversight (shepherding) of the flock and the wise government (rule) of the church.
