Small Groups

The Small Groups Ministry Team wants to help everyone at Wildwood Church connect and participate in a small group. Thriving small groups are vital to our goal of making disciples since much of our discipleship occurs in these groups.

What is a Wildwood small group?

A small gathering of people who meet regularly in homes, on our campus, or in public places. But why do they meet? These small groups meet to experience life, growth and God’s presence together; compelling them to make a difference in our community.

These groups prevent us from getting lost in the crowd. This is where you can get to know God and can be known by others. Small groups are where you can connect with others and grow together; where you can laugh, learn, discuss, and be missed when you are gone.

Small groups can be a place of valuable community, where living life together, through the ups and downs, is normative. This is a group of people that you can serve shoulder to shoulder with and who will team up with you to share the gospel with others.

Who should be in a small group and why?

Our prayer is that all members of Wildwood Church would be in a small group! These groups empower us to connect and serve, and where most of our discipleship takes place. Thus, to remain disconnected from a small group is to deprive ourselves from our most intentional efforts towards growth and meaningful relationships. Also, being unconnected to others deprives the church of our gifts, passions and ideas.

What are the elements of a healthy Wildwood small group?

Wildwood has many different kinds of small groups like men’s groups, women’s groups, young couples groups, groups for mothers of young children, college and career groups, singles and many others. However, we hope that all of our small groups will have four things in common:

We believe a healthy and thriving Wildwood small group will embody four distinctives: Connect, Grow, Serve and Go.

  • Connect with God and others through meaningful relationships. (Check out our new monthly Small Groups Newsletter)
  • Grow in your understanding of Scripture and how to apply it to your life.
  • Serve as a Small Group in our church.
  • Go into our community and our world serving others and sharing the gospel in word and deed. (Consider downloading the Growing in the Gospel workbook and go through it with your small group. )
