To understand the significance of Jesus, we have to go back to the very beginning, when humanity enjoyed a perfect relationship with God. But…
Humanity sinned against God, resulting in a broken relationship with Him and the rest of His creation. We see evidence of a broken world all around us. All of creation is marred by sin, which naturally results in death. Humanity has become enslaved to self-centeredness. We sense our brokenness, incompleteness, alienation, and need for a Savior.
God came to earth in human form to rescue His creation. We know Him as Jesus. He lived a perfect life despite sharing a broken, sinful world with us. He was rejected and unjustly murdered by human hands. In His death, Jesus assumed our place by justly taking the penalty of our sins upon Himself. Then Jesus rose from the dead, overcoming everything that separates us from God and making it possible for all creation to be reconciled to Him. As Savior, He reconciles us to God. As Lord, He reigns over us as we live for Him, and no longer for ourselves.
Those who humble themselves before God and trust in Jesus as Savior and Lord will enjoy a restored relationship with God. We can then join Him in restoring all that was broken until Jesus returns. We encourage you to embrace Jesus tonight.
